A web rewriter takes a block of text and returns a block of text. That is fine for a paragraph. It is worse for a formatted paper, because bold, italics, headings, block quotes, and list structure do not survive the round trip. You get the rewrite back and then spend ten minutes restoring the formatting the paste flattened.

What the humanizer actually changes
It is worth being specific instead of gesturing at magic. Machine-written prose has recognizable habits: sentences that all land at a similar length, transitions drawn from a small stock set, hedging vocabulary applied evenly, paragraph shapes that repeat.
