The copy-paste tax
The practical difference shows up in the loop you run a hundred times a semester. With a web-app paraphraser it goes: select a paragraph, copy, switch tabs, paste, pick a mode, wait, copy the output, switch back, paste over your original, fix the formatting the paste destroyed.
