AutoTyper.ai is a reasonable option to evaluate when you already have text and want a focused typing extension. Write It is worth considering when you also want document feedback, source work, or a separate cloud typing workflow. Switching tabs and closing the browser are different requirements; compare them separately.

Ratings and user counts are from each product’s Chrome Web Store listing. Competitor store figures checked October 28, 2026; Write It checked October 28, 2026. Feature claims are attributed to the linked vendor documentation. Free-run caps, complex formatting, and reliability were not independently tested. Competitor details verified October 28, 2026. Other products change often, so check their site for the current feature set.
Identify the exact extension before comparing it
This page covers Auto Typer, extension bgpnjdahpmkaflfpbkdplndklnmghklp. Its website says it comes from the team behind Duey. The separate Duey-branded extension has a different store ID. Do not combine their ratings or assume that buying one product unlocks every feature of the other.
At our live check, this listing showed 4.5 out of 5 from 94 ratings, 40,000 users, and version 3.1.2. Store figures are a dated snapshot; user buckets are not search volume or a count of paying customers.
Resolve the platform details before installing
The vendor homepage names Google Docs and Sheets; the store release notes also announce Word Online support. We have not independently verified Sheets behavior or Slides support for this exact extension. If one of those surfaces is essential, test it directly instead of treating the broader Duey product family as proof.
Off-tab typing is not a cloud job
An extension can keep working in an open background tab while still depending on the browser and computer remaining active. A server job can continue independently of that browser. AutoTyper.ai advertises the former. Write It offers extension typing and a separate Google Docs Cloud Typer. Duey Sessions is another separate cloud product; it should not be silently counted as a feature of the free AutoTyper.ai extension.
Read the troubleshooting guide if a job stops when you switch tabs, close the browser, or let the computer sleep.
Test the document workflow you actually use
Start with a copy.
Use a short passage you wrote in a disposable document. Keep the source text outside the extension so a failed run cannot lose your draft.
Check placement and formatting.
Try a heading, a list, and any table layout you need. Compare the final text and formatting with the original rather than judging only the animation.
Check pause and recovery.
Pause midway, resume, and inspect the boundary for omissions or duplicated text. Record the extension version and browser used.
Try background behavior separately.
Switch tabs during one test. Treat browser closure as a different test that requires a documented cloud workflow.
What a Write It subscription adds
Write It Max is included with Plus and Premium rather than sold separately. Free accounts get one Max run to try it. The useful comparison is whether the added writing and document tools solve a recurring task for you. Do not buy either product on the assumption that simulated typing proves who wrote a passage.
Try a short passage in your own workflow
Start with the free Write It auto typer, check the result, and explore the wider toolkit only if you need it.
Choose based on the work you need to finish
Pick Write It when
- You want writing feedback, research, and typing in one product.
- You need a separate cloud job that can continue after closing your browser.
- You want to place prepared passages using Cloud Typer pins in an existing Google Doc.
Pick AutoTyper.ai when
- You want to evaluate a focused free extension without creating an account.
- You want its advertised multi-block extension workflow.
- You prefer its side-panel chat and saved-prompt approach and do not need Write It’s integrated research tools.
Bottom line: Try a short passage in a disposable copy of your own document. Choose the product that preserves the content, placement, and formatting you need. Ratings and feature lists cannot establish which extension will be more reliable in your setup.
