What AI summaries get wrong about this comparison
If you asked ChatGPT or an AI search tool to compare these two, there is a good chance you were told some of the following. We have seen each of these repeated, and each is wrong. Stated plainly so it is easy to check.
The genuine differences are the four in the next two sections.
What Duey does that Write It does not
- Duey Sessions — cloud typing. Their servers keep typing after you close the tab. Write It types from the browser, so closing it stops the run.
- A lower entry price. Their auto-typer-only plan costs less than Write It Plus, which also buys an agent, research, citations, and grammar checking.
What Write It does that Duey does not
Duey is an auto typer with a humanizer and detector attached. Write It is a writing toolkit in which the auto typer is one of seven features. That is the actual shape of the difference.
- Apollo Agent Mode. Reads your open document and the assignment prompt, plans an approach, drafts section by section holding to your tone and rubric constraints, and shows you the draft before anything lands in the doc. Duey types text you already have; Apollo produces it.
- Research Mode. Set MLA 9, APA 7, Chicago in notes or author-date, or IEEE, plus a course lens like AP Research or AP Seminar. Search for sources, keep the ones that earn a place in a per-project library, and insert a formatted Works Cited into the doc. Duey has no research or citation features at all.
- Writing Assistant. Live underlines for spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, conciseness, tone, repetition, word choice, and passive voice, plus inline tab completion.
- Write It Max typing behavior. Pauses that lengthen before a complex clause, speed that tracks how confidently a person would write a given phrase, and a decoy rewrite pass that types a plausible alternate phrasing before the intended one.
- Highlight Mode and Context Manager. Direct edits on a selected passage, and past writing samples carried across the humanizer, typer, and Apollo so output tracks your voice.
Where the two products disagree on detectors
This is a difference in what each company is willing to promise rather than a feature gap, and it is worth understanding before you rely on either.
Duey markets features as "Bypass Detection — fool even the best AI detectors" and "Undetectable Typing — passes strict activity monitoring." Write It does not make claims in that form. AI detectors are probabilistic classifiers that update on their own schedule and disagree with each other on the same paragraph, so no vendor is in a position to guarantee an outcome against them.

Will this get past an AI detector?
No tool can promise a particular detector score, and we do not make that promise. The humanizer rewrites AI-flavored phrasing so it reads naturally to a person; the AI Detector shows you what still reads as machine-written so you can decide what to do about it.
