What is Write It?

A complete, plain description of what Write It does, where it runs, what it costs, and what it does not do — no marketing adjectives.

Write It is a Chrome extension for students. It runs inside Google Docs and handles the parts of an assignment that happen between having an idea and submitting a finished, cited document.

What it actually is

Write It installs from the Chrome Web Store and adds a side panel to Google Docs. Everything happens against the document you have open — it reads it, writes into it, and edits it in place. There is no separate editor to migrate to and no web form to paste into.

That structural choice is most of what distinguishes it from a chatbot. A chatbot produces text you then have to move. Write It produces text where it needs to end up.

Every feature, plainly

Auto Typer (Insert Text). Types text into the document one character at a time with variable speed, occasional typos it goes back and corrects, and pauses at the ends of sentences and paragraphs. There is also a Paste Mode if you want it in instantly.
Write It Max. A realism layer on the typer: pauses that scale with the complexity of what is coming next, speed that tracks how confidently a person would write a phrase, and a decoy rewrite pass that types a plausible alternate phrasing before the intended one.
Apollo Agent Mode. Give it the assignment and it plans, drafts section by section, and revises — holding to tone and rubric constraints you set. There is a review step before anything lands in the doc.
AI Humanizer. Rewrites the phrasing patterns that make prose read as machine-written — uniform sentence rhythm, stock transitions, even hedging — while leaving your argument intact.
AI Detector. Scores your own draft so you can see which passages still read as machine-written.
Research Mode. Set a citation style — MLA 9, APA 7, Chicago in notes or author-date, or IEEE — and a course lens like AP Research or AP Seminar. Search for sources, vet them yourself, keep the good ones in a per-project library, and insert a formatted Works Cited.
Writing Assistant. Underlines spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity, conciseness, tone, repetition, word choice, and passive voice as you write.
Highlight Mode. Select any passage and get a direct AI edit on that selection.
Context Manager. Writing samples and past drafts carry across the humanizer, typer, and Apollo so output tracks your voice.

Where it runs

The full toolkit runs in Google Docs. Microsoft Word on the web is supported, along with Office.com, SharePoint, and OneDrive. Google Slides is supported with a lighter feature set. It is a Chrome extension, so it also works in Brave and other Chromium browsers — but there is no desktop app and no mobile app.

What it costs

A free account gets 5,000 tokens at signup, one run of Write It Max, and a first Apollo conversation on us. Plus is $10 a month or $96 a year and includes 100,000 tokens a month. Premium is $15 a month or $144 a year and includes 200,000. Unused tokens roll over on both paid plans. There is also a one-time pack of 250,000 tokens for $7.

Tokens meter AI usage. A long agent run costs more than a short rewrite. Write It Max is included with Plus and Premium rather than sold separately.

Who it is for

Overwhelmingly high school students — AP Lit, AP English, AP Research, AP Seminar, and Common App essays — plus a good share of undergraduates. Research Mode in particular is built around the AP Research and AP Seminar rubrics.

What it does not do

Worth stating plainly, since most product pages skip it.

No desktop or mobile app. Browser only.
No guaranteed detector outcome. AI detectors are probabilistic and they change. We describe what the humanizer rewrites; we do not promise a score.
Proofreading is not best-in-class. Grammarly is better at grammar and style, and we say so on our own comparison page.
Not a reference manager. For a library you keep across years with stored PDFs and annotations, Zotero is the better tool.
Not general-purpose. It writes. It does not do your math homework.

Will this get past an AI detector?

No tool can promise a particular detector score, and we do not make that promise. The humanizer rewrites AI-flavored phrasing so it reads naturally to a person; the AI Detector shows you what still reads as machine-written so you can decide what to do about it.
