Write It meters AI usage in tokens. Everything else about the pricing follows from understanding what a token is and what spends them.

The plans

Write It plans
PlanMonthlyYearlyTokens
Free$07-day Premium trial + 5,000/month
Plus$10$96 ($8/mo)100,000/month, refreshed monthly
Premium$15$144 ($12/mo)200,000/month, refreshed monthly

The free plan is two things stacked. First, a personal code in your welcome email that starts a seven-day Premium trial whenever you choose; it never expires and works once. Second, 5,000 tokens that top back up to 5,000 at the start of every month. The AI Detector sits outside both: it is free every day and costs no tokens.

Plus adds Write It Max, larger file uploads, the Research Agent, and the deep research model. Premium doubles the token allowance and adds priority support and early access to new features.

What a token is

Tokens are the unit AI models bill in — roughly, pieces of words. Write It passes that metering through rather than inventing a separate credit system, so what you spend tracks what a request actually cost to run.

The practical consequence is that costs are proportional to size and complexity. A one-sentence rewrite is cheap. An agent run that plans, drafts, and revises a full section reads and writes far more text, so it costs more.

What spends tokens

  • Apollo Agent Mode. The most token-intensive feature by a distance — it reads your document and generates across multiple steps.
  • The AI Humanizer. Scales with the length of the passage you rewrite.
  • Highlight Mode. Small, since it operates on a selection.
  • Research Mode. Source discovery and Works Cited generation both use tokens; the deep research model uses more.

The auto typer itself does not consume tokens for typing text you already have — that is a local operation. Live grammar and clarity checks in the Writing Assistant are also not metered, and the AI Detector is free every day on every plan. During the seven-day trial your account runs on the Premium allowance instead.

Which plan you need

  • Stay on Free if you mostly want the auto typer and the writing checks, with occasional AI help. Both of the former are unmetered, the seven-day trial covers a first big push, and 5,000 tokens come back every month.
  • Get Plus if you use Apollo regularly, want Write It Max on every document, or are writing a research paper that needs the Research Agent.
  • Get Premium if you are running out of tokens on Plus. It is the same features with double the allowance — if 100,000 is enough, Plus is the right plan and we would rather you stayed on it.

Because the allowance refreshes in full every month, a heavy month never eats into the next one — you start each month at your plan’s full amount. Most students on Plus do not exhaust an allowance in a month, and if you regularly need more, Premium doubles the allowance.

Frequently asked questions

Do unused tokens expire?
Your allowance refreshes at the start of each month, so unused plan tokens don’t carry over — you’re simply topped back up to your plan’s full amount, including back up to 5,000 on the free plan. Bonus tokens never expire, and neither does your welcome trial code. Subscribers from before the August 2026 policy change keep the original rollover behavior while their subscription stays active.
What happens when I run out of tokens?
Metered AI features stop until your next monthly refill — free accounts top back up to 5,000 tokens, paid plans to their full allowance. The auto typer, the live writing checks, and the daily AI Detector keep working, since none of them consume tokens.
Is Write It Max a separate purchase?
No. It is included with Plus and Premium. Free accounts get one Max run so you can see the difference before deciding.
Is there a free version?
Yes. A free account gets a 7-day Premium trial and 5,000 free tokens every month, plus one run of Write It Max. The trial comes as a personal code for a free 7-day Premium trial, sent in the welcome email and valid until you use it, and the AI Detector is free every day. There is no card required to sign up.
What are tokens?
Tokens are how AI usage is metered. Bigger jobs — a long agent run, a full research draft — cost more than a short rewrite. Plus and Premium allowances refresh in full every month.
