The three-question filter

1. 1Can you find the rate before signing up? Real work states a number — per hour, per piece, per view. If the pay is a mystery until you are inside, the mystery is the business model.
2. 2Is pay per deliverable, or per promise? "Earning potential" is a promise. A rate attached to a finished thing — a session taught, a video approved, a file delivered — is pay.
3. 3Is joining free? Starter kits, unlock fees, and paid certifications-of-nothing all mean you are the customer, not the worker.

Seven online hustles that pass

1. 1Online tutoring. Typically $15–$30 an hour. Demand is steady, the rate is stated up front, and your transcript is the only credential most families ask for.
2. 2Freelance writing, editing, and design. Small projects commonly pay $20–$75 while you build samples. Slow first month, compounding after — the portfolio is the flywheel.
3. 3UGC video programs. Paid per video, not per follower. Marketplace briefs typically run $25–$150 a clip for beginners, with queues and competition; direct programs remove the gate. The one we run publishes exact terms — below.
4. 4Selling digital products. Templates, study guides, and designs earn per sale. Honest label: a slow build that rewards a catalog, not a single upload.
5. 5User testing. Recorded feedback sessions commonly pay $10–$30 each. The rate is real; the volume is sporadic, so treat it as a bonus stream.
6. 6Transcription and captioning. Billed per audio hour; beginners honestly net around $8–$15 per real hour worked until speed builds. Pays reliably, scales with typing speed.

How the Write It creator program works

Applications and new submissions are paused. The new workflow starts with an unpublished draft, then approval to post. A reviewer checks the public video against the approved draft before verifying views.

Submit a draft and wait for approval before publishing. Standard videos earn $2 per 1,000 verified views, plus a $10 bonus only after exceeding 1,000 views within 7 days of posting. Total pay, including the bonus, is capped at $800 per video. AI videos and slideshows earn $0.10 per 1,000 verified views with no bonus, capped at $500 per video. View pay covers the first 14 days after posting. Only approved published videos earn cash.

For example, a standard video with 5,000 verified views in its first week earns $20: $10 in view pay and the $10 bonus. An AI video or slideshow with the same views earns $0.50. Both are subject to review.

Earlier submissions keep their recorded rates, thresholds, caps and payment windows. The new rules apply only to new submissions.

Technically pays, usually not worth it

Survey sites, get-paid-to-watch apps, and micro-task platforms do send real money — that is not the problem. The problem is the rate: measured against the clock, they commonly work out to a few dollars an hour, and the "high-paying" tasks are rationed. If you enjoy them as idle-time apps, fine; as a hustle, everything above beats them.
