Can you text an AI for homework help?
ChatGPT left WhatsApp in January and never did iMessage. Here is which AIs you can actually text for homework help, and what makes one worth texting.

Yes, but the list is shorter than you would expect. ChatGPT, the AI most students use, does not take text messages, and in January Meta pushed outside AI bots off WhatsApp.
Why texting an AI is different from opening an app
The obvious reason is that your messages are already open. The bigger one is that an AI in your texts can message you first. An app waits for you to remember it. A text can show up the night before something is due.
What you can text right now
| Option | How you reach it | Built for school? |
|---|---|---|
| ChatGPT | Call 1-800-CHATGPT (US and Canada). Its WhatsApp chat ended January 15, 2026. | No, general purpose |
| Meta AI | Built into WhatsApp, Instagram and Messenger | No, general purpose |
| Poke | Text it in the Messages app | No, it works with email, calendars and files |
| Apollo (Write It) | Coming to iMessage. The waitlist is open. | Yes: Google Classroom, Docs, Slides and Canva |
We make Apollo, so weigh this table accordingly. What it says about the others comes from their own help pages and announcements as of October 2026.
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, Siri can also pass a question to ChatGPT. That is handy for a quick answer, but it is a voice assistant, not a thread you can come back to.
Apollo is coming to iMessage
It reads Google Classroom and texts you before things are due. Join the waitlist to hear first.
What to look for in a homework AI you text
- It knows what is due. If you have to type every assignment in yourself, you are still your own planner. Look for one that reads Google Classroom.
- It works where the assignment lives. An answer in a chat bubble still has to get into your Doc or your slides. The useful ones put the work in the file.
- It reads photos. Plenty of homework is still a worksheet on paper. Being able to send a picture of it matters more than any feature list.
- It asks before it acts. Anything that touches your schoolwork should check with you first.
Apollo: the one we are building for this
Apollo is the AI inside Write It’s Chrome extension and website, and it is coming to iMessage. Connect Google Classroom and it texts you before things are due. Send it a photo of a worksheet, a file or a voice memo and it reads it. Say yes and it gets the work done in Docs, Slides or Canva, with realistic typing and our humanizer built in. It is the same Apollo, with the same memory, as in the extension.
Text Apollo when it opens
It is in a small test right now. Join the waitlist and you will be first to hear.
